An OBS alternative for presenting in meetings.Fewer steps, honest limits.

OBS Studio can do almost anything, and it asks you to build scenes, sources and a virtual camera first. If you only want to show your content and your webcam, there are simpler paths. Here is when OBS is still the right answer.

Is there a simpler alternative to OBS for presenting in a meeting?

Yes, depending on what you need. If you only want your screen content and your webcam in one view, Sincron Screen Tools does it with a shortcut: press Ctrl + Shift + P, pick an area or a window, turn on the webcam and share one window in the meeting. If you stay in one platform, Zoom's presenter layouts, Teams' Presenter mode and PowerPoint's Cameo are built in.

OBS Studio remains the better tool for streaming, recording, many sources and custom scenes. It is free and open source, runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and, through OBS Virtual Camera, appears as a camera in apps such as Zoom and Teams.

Virtual-camera apps such as ManyCam and Airtime Camera (formerly mmhmm) are paid options when you want a camera with effects, such as virtual backgrounds.

Comparison

OBS and the simpler options

We checked each one on its official page on October 5, 2026. Where a page does not say, we say so too.

OBS Studio

Windows 10 and 11, macOS 13+ and Linux

Price: Free and open source

Best for
Streaming, recording and scenes with several sources
Where it wins
Display, window and webcam capture, cropping, any layout you design, recording and live streaming. Its Virtual Camera appears in apps such as Zoom and Teams.
Where it falls short
You build the scenes and sources yourself, keep OBS open and pick OBS Virtual Camera in the meeting app.

Sincron Screen Tools: Present live

Windows 10 and 11

Price: Free to download; Present live uses no AI and no API key

Best for
Your content and your webcam in one window, with no setup
Where it wins
A shortcut, an area or a window, and a webcam in a corner or side panel, in one window you share in any meeting app. No recording and no microphone.
Where it falls short
It does not record, stream, mix many sources or create a virtual camera. Windows only, with its screen in English and Portuguese.

ManyCam

Windows and macOS

Price: From US$59/year; the free version adds a watermark

Best for
Appearing as a virtual webcam with layered sources and effects
Where it wins
It mixes webcams, desktop and windows, media files, slides and more as layers, with an AI virtual background, and works as a virtual webcam in Zoom, Teams, Meet and others.
Where it falls short
Watermark-free use is paid, and the documentation we read does not detail capturing a region of the screen.

Airtime Camera (formerly mmhmm)

Windows 10 and 11

Price: From US$10/month billed yearly (US$12 monthly); 14-day trial

Best for
A polished look on camera, with backgrounds, lighting and reactions
Where it wins
It works as a virtual camera in Zoom, Teams, Webex, Meet and others.
Where it falls short
Its official pages do not describe a mode that puts your webcam over a shared screen, and it is paid after the trial.

Step by step

Present your screen and webcam without OBS

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + P and pick an area or a window

An area shows anything that appears over it; a window follows only one application.

  2. Turn on the webcam and choose its layout

In a corner or in a side panel, with the shape, size and corner rounding you prefer.

  3. Share the window “Screen Tools — Apresentação” and click Present

In Teams, Zoom or Meet, share that window. Present hides the controls, and Esc brings them back.

Real limits

What OBS does that Sincron does not

Recording and streaming

Sincron does not record video or stream. To record a meeting, use the meeting app's recorder; to record or stream with scenes, OBS is the tool.

Many sources and custom scenes

OBS lets you stack several sources and switch between scenes. Present live offers one area or window plus an optional webcam, in three layouts.

A virtual camera

Sincron does not create one. You share its window, so the webcam appears inside the shared content and not as a separate camera in the meeting.

Other systems

OBS also runs on macOS and Linux. Sincron Screen Tools is for Windows 10 and 11 only.

Common questions about OBS and presenting

Is OBS Studio free?

Yes. OBS Studio is free and open source, and runs on Windows 10 and 11, macOS 13 or later and Linux.

Does OBS work in Teams, Zoom and Google Meet?

Through OBS Virtual Camera: you start it in OBS and choose it as the camera in the meeting app. OBS's guide cites Zoom, Skype, Discord and Teams as examples.

Can I present my screen and webcam without OBS?

Yes. Sincron Screen Tools opens one window with the content and the webcam (Ctrl + Shift + P), and you share it in the meeting. Zoom, Teams and PowerPoint also have built-in modes.

Do ManyCam and Airtime Camera replace OBS?

They solve a different part of the problem: they add a virtual camera with effects to your meeting app. They are paid, and the pages we checked do not describe putting your webcam over a shared screen.
