How do you annotate and share a screenshot?
Press Ctrl + Shift + C to select an area and open the Screenshot Studio. Add pen, highlighter, text, line, arrow, rectangle, or ellipse, then adjust the background, margin, corners, and shadow.
When the screenshot is clear, choose Copy to paste it directly into a ticket, chat, or email, or Save PNG to keep a file. To point at something over a live screen before capturing it, press Ctrl + Shift + D.

From a raw crop to a self-explanatory image
A screenshot works best when every mark has one job: point, frame, highlight, or name.
Capture the evidence
Press Ctrl + Shift + C and keep only the context someone else needs to orient themselves.
Use a few clear annotations
Arrows point, rectangles frame, highlights emphasize, and text explains. Avoid covering the evidence itself.
Prepare the output
Adjust margin, background, inner radius, aspect ratio, and shadow so the capture stays distinct where it is pasted.
Copy or save as PNG
Paste it into the work channel or keep a file. The original image and captured application remain untouched.

Real limitations
What to know before you capture and send
A screenshot is a copy of what was visible at one moment. Review its content and destination before sharing it.
The output format is PNG
The Studio does not export editable PDFs, video, or layered design files. Annotations are embedded in the final image.
HDR can overexpose the image
On some displays, Windows HDR makes captures too bright. Temporarily toggle it with Win + Alt + B and try again.
Protected screens may be empty
Content protected by Windows or the application can block capture. The tool does not remove that protection.
Sensitive data remains visible
Before copying, check names, email addresses, keys, notifications, and anything else that should not travel with the image.
Common questions about annotated screenshots
Do I have to save before pasting the screenshot?
No. Copy sends the final PNG to the clipboard, ready to paste into a chat, email, document, or ticket.
Can I draw directly over a live screen?
Yes. Ctrl + Shift + D opens a drawing layer over any application. Esc or right-click closes it without changing the app underneath.
Which annotation tools are included?
Pen, highlighter, eraser, text, line, arrow, rectangle, and ellipse, with undo, redo, and clear controls.
Does capturing change the original file or page?
No. Editing happens on a copy inside the Studio. The captured file, website, or application is not modified.
