How do you annotate a screenshot on Windows?
Press Ctrl + Shift + D to open the drawing layer over whatever is on screen. Drag while holding Ctrl + Shift for an arrow, Ctrl for a rectangle, or Shift for a straight line. T adds text, and the highlighter marks a passage.
With your marks on screen, press Ctrl + Shift + C and drag over the area. The screenshot keeps your drawings and opens in the Screenshot Studio, where you pick the background, margin, corners and shadow. Then copy the image to the clipboard or save it as a PNG.
Capturing, annotating and drawing are free and unlimited in Sincron Screen Tools, with no expiry. They work without an AI key or an internet connection, and nothing leaves your computer.
Step by step
From a raw capture to a screenshot that explains itself
Every mark has one job: an arrow points, a rectangle frames, a highlight emphasizes and text explains. A few clear marks work better than many.
Open the drawing layer
Ctrl + Shift + D opens the layer over any app, on every monitor. The app underneath keeps working.
Mark what matters
Ctrl + Shift and drag draws an arrow, Ctrl draws a rectangle and T adds text. Ctrl + Z undoes the last mark and the E key clears everything.
Capture with the drawings
Press Ctrl + Shift + C and drag over the area. The screenshot keeps your marks and opens in the Screenshot Studio.
Adjust and paste
In the Studio, choose the background, margin, corners and shadow. Copy the image to paste into a ticket or chat, or save a PNG.

Point at the wrong field and the error message, then paste it into the ticket, Jira or Teams. Whoever gets it knows where to look without asking.

Screenshots with the same frame, background and margin make a step-by-step guide look like a document, in Confluence, Notion or Word.
Teaching and calls
Draw live over the screen while you explain. The drawings show up when you share your screen in Teams or Meet, and the final frame becomes a screenshot people can review later.
Real limitations
What Sincron does not do to a screenshot yet
Better to know before you install than in the middle of a ticket.
No blur and no step numbers
The app does not blur or pixelate areas or number steps yet. Keep anything that should not appear out of the crop: names, email addresses, keys and notifications.
No cropping after capture
The crop is the area you select when you capture. If it is too big, capture again: the Studio adjusts background and margin but does not cut the image.
The output is PNG
The Studio copies or saves a PNG. It does not export PDF, video, GIF or layered files, and the marks are baked into the image.
Protected screens may come out empty
Content protected by Windows or by the app can block capture. Sincron does not remove that protection.
Common questions about annotating screenshots
How do I add an arrow to a screenshot?
Press Ctrl + Shift + D, hold Ctrl + Shift and drag from the starting point to the target: the arrow appears. Then press Ctrl + Shift + C and select the area. The screenshot keeps the arrow and opens in the Studio, ready to copy or save as a PNG.
Does the Snipping Tool have arrows?
On Windows 11, the current Snipping Tool has shapes (rectangle, oval, line and arrow) but no text tool. On Windows 10 it has no arrow. Sincron adds live drawing over any app before you capture, and the Studio with background, margin and shadow.
Is it really free? Is there a limit?
Capturing, annotating, drawing and sharing are free and unlimited, with no expiry and no credit card. The 5-per-day limit on the free plan applies only to translation and summaries, which use your own AI key.
Do I have to save before pasting the screenshot?
No. Copying the image puts the finished PNG on the clipboard. Just paste it into a chat, email, document or ticket.
Do my drawings show when I share my screen in Teams or Meet?
Yes. By default, drawings appear in Windows screenshots and in screen sharing (Teams, Meet, OBS). You can hide them in Settings.
Does it change the original file or app?
No. What you draw sits on a layer over the screen, and the app underneath stays the same. No screenshot is saved on its own, only when you save it.
